Who is responsible for your information
Freight Totals is the site operator and is responsible for the personal information handled through the site. The Freight Totals privacy contact is available through the contact page or at privacy@freighttotals.com.
Information we collect
Calculator arithmetic runs in your browser. Other site features collect information when you use them, and calculator or shipment details may be included when you submit a lead request or create a shared result link.
- Lead requests: name, company name, email address, phone number, origin and destination postal codes, pickup date, dimensions, weight, handling-unit count, calculated freight class, and other project or shipment details you submit.
- Email subscriptions: email address, subscription status, source page, signup timestamp, and category plus state or ZIP segmentation when that context is already known.
- Analytics and technical data: after analytics consent, page path, event name, calculator completion, optional carrier-CTA view or click, calculator slug, category, CTA variant, session identifier, timestamp, referrer URL and referrer classification, browser and device information, cookies or similar identifiers, and IP address received by us or our providers. Lead-signal events do not contain lane details, raw result values, or contact information.
- Shared links: a result link may contain dimensions, weights, quantities, units, and calculator settings in its query string. Anyone who receives that link can read those values.
- Communications: the contents of messages, requests, corrections, and privacy inquiries you send.
- Freight company accounts: business email, company profile, team role, approved domains, funnel settings, billing state, and security and audit records.
- Customer quote funnels: the named freight company, lane, pickup timing, shipment details, calculator inputs and result, commodity, accessorials, contact details, consent record, and delivery status. Sensitive payloads are encrypted at rest.
How and why we use information
- To securely record a shipment request and allow Freight Totals to follow up. Carrier and broker matching is not currently active.
- To send requested classification, IFTA, or other site updates after double opt-in confirmation, and to manage unsubscribe requests.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the calculators and site.
- To measure usage, attribution, and funnel performance, including distinguishing organic search, AI assistant, direct, and other referrals.
- To display and measure advertising or affiliate offers when those features are active and you have provided the required cookie preference.
- To comply with law, prevent abuse, and establish or defend legal claims.
When we share information
We share information only for the purposes described here, subject to contracts and applicable law. Depending on the feature used, recipients may include:
- Future lead partners and service providers: shipment requests are currently stored in Freight Totals' first-party Cloudflare database and are not sent or sold to carriers or brokers. If matching is introduced, the recipient will be identified and any additional required consent will be requested before sharing.
- Named customer-funnel company: when you deliberately submit a quote request inside a freight company's funnel, the contact, lane, shipment details, accessorials, and calculator result are sent only to the company named immediately before submission. FreightTotals does not resell that customer-funnel request as a shared lead.
- Advertising networks: no advertising network is currently active. If advertising is activated, the provider will receive data only after advertising consent and will be identified in this policy or the placement.
- Affiliate networks: Easyship partner links use Impact.com for referral attribution. Deliberately following a labelled Easyship link routes through Impact and opens Easyship, where those providers may receive referral, device, and interaction data under their own policies. The current attribution code identifies FreightTotals and does not include lane details, shipment inputs, postal codes, or contact information.
- Analytics and infrastructure providers: Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Cloudflare hosting and storage services may process usage, device, network, and event data to operate and measure the site. When lead-email delivery is configured, Resend processes request details to notify the site operator.
- Legal and business recipients: regulators, courts, advisers, or a successor in a merger, financing, acquisition, or asset transfer when disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Future lead disclosures, advertising identifiers, and affiliate attribution may be treated as a sale or sharing of personal information under some privacy laws. No lead disclosure is currently active. You may opt out of non-essential analytics and advertising through and may request deletion or restricted use of a saved request by contacting privacy@freighttotals.com.
Cookies and similar technologies
Essential storage remembers security, session, subscription, and consent-preference information needed to provide requested features. With your permission, analytics storage may measure visits and interactions, and advertising storage may support ad delivery, frequency, attribution, and affiliate measurement. Use at any time to accept or reject non-essential categories.
- freighttotals_consent: an essential first-party cookie that stores your analytics and advertising choices for up to one year.
- freighttotals-consent-v1: matching browser storage that preserves the same preference until you clear site data or replace the choice.
- freighttotals-session-id: session storage used for consented funnel measurement and removed when the browser session ends.
- ft_company_session and ft_company_csrf: essential first-party security cookies for authenticated freight-company workspaces and request verification. They expire after up to 30 days or when revoked.
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity: analytics cookies and identifiers are created only after analytics consent and follow the provider's configured retention, subject to the site's 24-month limit.
- Advertising and affiliate storage: Freight Totals does not set an affiliate cookie before you follow a partner link. Impact or Easyship may set attribution storage after you deliberately open the labelled Easyship destination; their policies and controls apply on those services.
Retention
Public site leads and subscription records are retained for up to 24 months from collection or the last relevant interaction. Customer quote-funnel leads default to a 12-month retention date so the receiving company can review, export where eligible, or delete them sooner. Expired sign-in links and sessions are removed through maintenance. Billing, consent, unsubscribe, security, and audit records may be retained longer when necessary for law, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or recordkeeping. Aggregate reporting records do not contain shipper contact or exact shipment data.
International processing
Our service providers and lead partners may process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where their infrastructure or personnel operate. Courts and authorities in those places may be able to access it under local law. We use provider terms, contractual controls, access restrictions, and consent choices appropriate to the service and information involved.
Your choices and rights
You may request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, or withdrawal of consent. You may unsubscribe from email through the link in each message, change non-essential cookie choices through Cookie preferences, and withdraw lead or marketing consent by contacting privacy@freighttotals.com. Withdrawal does not affect processing already completed and may prevent us from providing the requested feature. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Quebec residents and Law 25
If you are in Quebec, you may ask about the existence and use of your personal information, request access or correction, withdraw consent, request deletion where applicable, and ask that dissemination or indexing cease where Quebec law provides that right. Send a request to the Freight Totals privacy contact above. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d'acces a l'information du Quebec.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
Where the GDPR or equivalent law applies, our legal bases may include your consent, performance of a service you request, legitimate interests in operating and improving the site, and compliance with legal obligations. You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and may withdraw consent at any time. You may complain to your local supervisory authority. Direct requests to the Freight Totals privacy contact above.
California residents
Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the sources and business purposes, and the categories of third parties receiving it. You may also request deletion or correction, opt out of a sale or sharing where applicable, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable, and receive equal service without discrimination for exercising a right. The categories collected are identifiers, internet or electronic activity, commercial or project information, and inferences such as referral or tool category. Submit a request through the privacy contact above.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as features, partners, or laws change. The effective and last-updated dates above identify the current version. For any request or question, use the contact page or email privacy@freighttotals.com.
